Hahira Georgia, 31632 was incorporated on October 2, 1891 and is known as the Home of the Honey Bee. With a population of just over 2,800, Hahirans enjoy a charming, small-town atmosphere and the luxury of being just minutes away from a larger city. Residents live within walking distance, or golf-cart ride, of shopping, banking, recreation, and worship.

In 1991, Hahira joined communities all over the country by being designated a Tree City USA. They have continued to maintain this status by meeting the four core standards, which are: maintianing a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry, and celebrating Arbor Day.

One of the main attractions in Hahira is the Annual Honey Bee Festival, which began in 1981 when two women, Mamie Sorrell and Adeline Landrum, decided to “liven up the city” with a weekend of arts, crafts, live entertainment, and a parade. The weekend festival has grown into a week-long extravaganza! The Honey Bee Festival is held in early October and features arts and crafts, live entertainment, a parade, and is attended by over 20,000 visitors each year. M&M Ponyland offers lessons, photo shoots, and birthday parties, while Jacob’s Ladder Therapeutic Riding Center serves special needs children by teaching horseback riding in a safe, non-stressful environment. Shiloh Stables Lay Up and Lay Over is a full service boarding facility, that also offers lessons, birthday parties, and guided trails by appointment.
